1. Get a car wash
It’s beautiful out, so make sure your car matches the scenery. Beyond aesthetics, a car wash will remove any salt and road debris and help prevent rust.
2. Take inventory
Give your car an inspection, inside and out, to check what condition everything is in. Check the interior of the car, including the floor mats, buttons, and lights, then move to the outside. Note any deterioration, damage, or scratches to lights, paint, and windshield wipers. Also check for any loose parts.
3. Check the engine and top up fluids
Inspect your belts, pipes, and hoses for any leaks or cracks Check oil levels, and all other fluids, including antifreeze and coolant, to ensure everything is topped up. Your owner’s manual will be able to tell you what replacement fluids will work best with your vehicle. Always follow the manufacturer’s recommendations.
4. Take care of your tires
If you’re still using your winter tires, switch to your summer or all season ones. Check the tread, tire pressure, and for any punctures.
5. Pack an emergency kit
It never hurts to be prepared, especially when you’re on the road. Keep a kit including a blanket, first aid items, snacks and water, and jumper cables in your trunk.
